The founders of Saxo Bank, Lars Seier Christensen and Kim Fournais, stand out as devotees of Ayn Rand even in the world of global finance. The bank hands out copies of Atlas Shrugged to its employees and clients. A copy of the edition Saxo had printed for its 35th Anniversary sits on Unreal City’s bookshelf.
For some, this is another affirmation of Atlas Shrugged’s status as a manual for the worst kind of destructive capitalism. For others it is a path to freedom. Regardless of personal politics, Saxo’s adventures in publishing are a striking example of how literature can be used to inspire, fashion and then re-inforce business practice.
